Celebrities Show That Pleated Skirts Aren’t Only For School Girls!

Pleated skirts were all over the Spring and Summer runways the past year, and it rightfully deserves the spot. For a long while, pleated skirts were thought of as something that only school girls would wear, and it is not really an accurate depiction of this very fashionable piece of clothing. Celebrities including Dakota Fanning, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and more have been spotted wearing this style, and the wildfire spread of these celebrities following makes the pleated skirt another trend to look out for this coming Spring.

While they are really fashionable and easy to wear, pleats of all lengths, from mini to maxi are also very comfortable. In a way, they are not only fashion trends that look good but feel good when worn as well. They are both practical and flattering, which leads me to believe that more and more fashion-forward women will appreciate wearing them too! While larger pleats can add volume to your lower half, thin versions (like the ones pictured below), lightly skim the body to show off your shape without excess material.

Personally, I am a fan of pleated skirts, but I am more inclined in wearing mini pleated skirts. How about you? Which skirt length do you like best?

Here are some of the pleated skirt styles that I really like!

Jennifer Aniston In A Black Pleated Skirt

Jennifer Aniston looks really sexy and chic wearing this simple pleated skirt. Completing this stylish look are black pumps — this all-black outfit is a smart way for every woman to get the fashionable look without going overboard

Jennifer Lopez In A Red Pleated Skirt

Although the full pleated skirt is quite beautiful, you need some height to pull it off beautifully. To avoid looking dull and boring, choose the full pleated skirt in a brighter color and pair it with a simple yet sexy top. Some accessories will make your look even more fashionable

Emma Stone In A Purple Midi Skirt

In my personal opinion, this purple pleated skirt outfit will look a lot more fashionable if the boots were dumped. The boots takes away from the beauty of the skirt and they look out-of-place, but that is just my opinion!

At the end of the day, the fact remains that pleated skirts are not only for school girls. As long as you know how to wear them, they can be one of the most fashionable bottoms that you can wear in Spring! Trumpet Skirts As Your New Go-To Fashion Item

As a girl, wearing skirts is just one thing that I can’t get enough of. But the thing is, wearing skirt can be too tiresome and boring at times. Which is why I decided to try out wearing trumpet skirts.

The trumpet skirt, also known as the mermaid skirt, frill skirt, or ruffled skirt, has taken on a sleeker form dating these modern times. Coming back from its immense popularity during the Mean Girls era, what was once a skirt silhouette filled with aggressive ruffles and lengths (which seemed to get shorter and shorter in length by the week) has now been reborn with more sophistication.

Stylishly feminine both in fit and style, the trumpet skirt is continuously evolving to fit the modern trends of today’s girls. Trumpet skirt is a sister to drop waist dresses and also closely resembles its roots which is the skater skirt. Still, trumpet skirts do possess their own character – the upper portion is fitted while the lower seam flares out from the body. Because the top portion of the skirt hugs your curves, you need to be comfortable with your shape and your derriere. Stand straight, walk with good posture in order to give your rear its best look.

If you want to create an illusion of long legs, opt for midi trumpet skirts to partner with a cute top, tuck in. To wear it to formal affairs, go for a simple clean top such as a solid colored silk or a collared button-down shirt. Adding a matching blazer will create a very elegant, polish tandem.

For transitional days, early fall or late spring, play up your femininity with gorgeous trumpet skirts and knitted pullover topped with ankle boots or pumps (worn with socks). Remember that if your skirt is mini, you have to tuck your top. But if you feel like wearing it untuck and a little loose, make sure that your skirt is a midi and your top hits around the first hip.

Trumpet skirts might be tricky to wear, but I assure you that mastering their quirks is worth it! They give you a different view on skirts and a different angle to look at when you want to wear skirts but don’t want to look the same as everybody else.

Still on the hunt for a nice trumpet skirt to get your “skirt journey” started? Here is a nice and stylish layered trumpet skirt from Bubble and Chic to get you started with!

Why Wrap Around Skirts Are A Hit Right Now

With the winter season just behind, priming yourself up for spring and summer fashion is just about right. Colors and patterns dominate this season and you can wear more vibrant and enticing clothes during spring and summer that would not look very enticing during winter or fall. As it goes, one of the best garments to wear during spring and summer are skirts. And when it comes to skirts, nothing beats the ingenuity and unique style offered by the wrap around skirt.

When it comes to getting that genuine “feminine” and “girly” look, I think we can all agree that skirts rank high on the list. Make no mistake about it — there is something about skirts that scream “go girl”, unlike other bottoms that girls such as you and I like to wear. As you know, there are a lot of skirts that you can choose from — pencil, A-line, midi, mini — that focusing on just one kind is not gonna cut it. However, one of the styles that really stand out from the rest is the wrap around skirt, and there are several reasons for this too!

Reasons Why Wrap Around Skirts Are Such A Hit

First of all, wrap around skirts will ALMOST ALWAYS fit you. Never mind that uncomfortable feeling that you might have when you start to wear that skimpy A-line or pencil skirt — the wrap around skirt does not have any of that. Because the wrap around skirt, as it name suggests, is worn by wrapping around the skirt instead of wearing it from bottom up, it gives you a lot of room to fit your hips and thighs

Furthermore, wrap around skirts do look good in a variety of ways. You can look good in a wrap around skirt in a midi cut, while also look stunning in a mini skirt cut. The nice thing about a wrap around skirt is that it can be worn in an asymmetrical manner, further opening up opportunities to play with the look that you are going for. You can wrap it around the left or around the right, and you can even make one side longer than the other.

Truly, wrap around skirts have the potential to make you look stunning in ways that normal skirts can’t. So if you are gunning for a look which includes the wrap around skirt, take a look at this off center button down wrap skirt from one of my favorite online Korean Web stores, Style Nanda.

Bring Back The Old School With Flare Skirt

For quite some time now, full skirts have been trending back into fashion stardom, and I like it more and more every time I see it. You could say that I might be more familiar with the shorter skirt styles such as the minis and the skater skirts, but I also love and adore those 50s style long, flared skirts.

Although most designers have updated the flared style and turned the skirt into A-line and midi skirts, nothing beats the original flare and poofiness of the original. There’s something about a fuller flare that looks even more feminine and it can easily make you look chic, girly, or sporty — depending on the style that you are trying to emulate.

As known designers start to create more and more fit-and-flare silhouettes all over their runways, choosing a flared skirt has never been more fun. Whether you prefer an all-out ladylike stance or a sportier and chic spirit, knowing how to choose what is the right fit-and-flare shape for your body shape is essential. Although the rules for choosing the right kind of flared skirt has never changed, it is still up to us to make sure that we choose well and look well!  To help you out, here are some tips and tricks that I would like to share to help you find the right fit and flare

  • Since fit-and-flare silhouettes move towards the feminine side of the style meter, temper the look with sleek pointy-toe pumps or patent ankle boots for a sleek Fall ensemble. Balancing things out this way will help make you look better.
  • Try not to wear a flare skirt with a hem that ends around the mid-calf. This kind of style is not too flattering and will only cause you too look smaller than usual
  • I love the idea of pairing a fit-and-flared miniskirt with a cozy turtleneck, tights, and textural vest once the temperature drops. Try this out once and see if it suits you well.

Wearing a fit and flared outfit can be easily done with a few simple guidelines to follow in order to ensure continuity in your look. Also, finding the right top to combine with your flare skirt involves a lot of trial and error to find the right tone combinations. To help you get started on your flared skirt journey,  I suggest that you check out this geometric flare skirt from Eleven Am, one of my favorite Korean online stores today!

Tips On How To Wear A Midi Skirt If You Are Petite

In case you don’t know, the midi skirt was a popular skirt length way backin the 1940s.
But because women were feeling suppressed and limited by the choices available to them during the early days, women started showing off their legs in mini skirts, making the midi skirt obsolete.

The “midi” is a three quarter length skirt, falling halfway between your knee and ankle. Shapes of midi skirts might vary – pencil, A-line, or circular, etc – but they are always described and characterized by the length. Girls try to avoid wearing it because the classic midis have a pesky habit of doing NIL for your shape and figure, and it can even make you look smaller than your actual height. But should it always be the case?

I say NO!

Tips For Wearing Midi Skirts

Just like what I said earlier, women know from experience that most midi skirts or even dresses can make them appear shorter and stout — two things girls like me absolutely hate! But what if we told you that if you wore it right it is possible to rock a midi skirt?

Yes it is entirely possible to wear a midi even if you are petite. The key is to wear it fully knowing about the do’s and don’ts of wearing a midi skirt,

Do’s of styling a midi skirt for petite

  • First thing that you have to consider is to take your waist higher. Opting to wear a high waist midi is a great way to take your waist higher, making you look taller than you normally are!
  • Tuck in! When you tuck in your blouse or button down shirt, it will look cohesive, especially if you are wearing it with a high waist midi. If you are conservative, this is a great technique too as it will only show off a bit of your skin.
  • A midi skirt in nude color is a great way to make your legs look “longer” than usual, so opt for beige or colors that closely resembles your skin.
  • A monotone color matching your outfit from head-to-toe look while wearing your midi skirt is also a simple yet effective technique to not only look uniform but ultimately lengthen you body. I can’t suppress this idea because it really works!

Even if you are petite, there are many ways that you can employ in wearing a midi skirt that will allow you to look taller, even if you are petite? Want to give midi a try? Then head over to 11AM and check out this front zip midi skirt to get things started for you!

Your Guide To Buying A Pleated Skirt

Contrary to the popular notion, not all pleated skirts are made in plaid design. Furthermore, pleated skirt are not only reserved for school girls and cheerleaders, just like what most media magazines try to make it appear. If you ask me, the pleated skirts that was once considered very limited are actually very versatile and very usable even for casual occasions. As they can be worn for just about any occasion, they are great alternatives to wearing pants when you want to show off a bit of skin and be comfortable while at it.

Certain types of pleated skirts go best with certain body types, and knowing how to choose the style of the pleated skirt that will look most flattering and fashionable to you is something that you have to consider before purchasing one.

What Is a Pleat, Anyway?

A type of permanent fabric fold often found in clothes, skirts, upholstery, and drapes. Formed by taking the fabric and doubling it back on itself before securing it into place, the pleated skirt style is very casual and it is a style of skirt that is easy on the eyes too.

The starting fabric is very wide, but when the pleats are completed, it makes the fabric smaller and reduced in length. The folds are then pressed to create a sharp creasewhich can go all the way from the top of the fabric down, or it can fall into rounded folds at the bottom. This effect of a pleat fold on a garment of clothing creates volume but it can also create the illusion of a tight fit.

Although a lot of women sometimes are too afraid of wearing skirts with pleats, fearing that they would look like a school girl if they do so, printed pleated skirts are actually really fashionable. They are versatile enough to be worn with heels, boots and flats, as long as you wear it with the right top to make you look stylish, chic, classy and absolutely feminine. A retro look is also possible with a pleat skirt if you wear it with a blouse or an oversized button-down shirt.

Wearing the pleated skirt along with leggings or long black socks is a great way to layer up during the colder months when you still want to wear them. For a more controlled look, try wearing a checkered pleated skirt with some long sleeves and it will really make you look even more attractive.

Lovely Lace Dress Buying Guide

Among women clothes, the lace is one of the most feminine and beautiful add-on embellishments that you can enjoy. And for me, a black lace is the ultimate colorway which adds a bit of style, chic and sexy quality to a black dress. Why did I say so? Well, for me, a black lace dress works well for parties, events, cocktail nights or other special occasions where you need to wear a dress but don’t want to wear the standard one. Black also hides imperfections better and you won’t have  to worry too much about dirt or dust in your clothing. When paired and worn with the right accessories, a black lace dress also creates a secy, dramatic and elegant look.

Lace Accents In Black Dresses

I really love lace as an embellishment on a dress, but for me it would only work well if it is not too overpowering and it is only available in small doses? If you are considering wearing a black dress,  choosing one with carefully-placed lace accents is a lot more flattering, in my opinion, instead of going for the all-over lace look.

Another thing to add, I also think black lace dresses with a bit of see-through effect can be really really sexy and flattering. If you are a slim and tall woman, and you are comfortable with the shape of your body, I can find no reason why you shouldn’t love wearing this style of a lace dress!

Other dresses with lace accents include black dresses with lace sleeves, lace trim, or lace back panels. Just choose a dress which has a lace overlay that fits atop of a regular black dress for a layered look that is dramatic, but still appropriate. A black dress with a bit of sheer lace around the waist adds visual interest or a dress with cut-out lace side panels, but a see through black lace dress is also very sexy! Just make sure that you don’t wear white or colored under garments when you wear a black lace see-through dress. Why? Because it will be very visible even from afar, and you definitely don’t want to catch the wrong kind of attention, do you?

If you are looking for a black lace dress that would make you look really flattering, don’t forget to check out these Lace A-Line Midi Dress from Style Nanda because I bought one and they are really amazing!

The Versatility Of Skirt Leggings

In a perfect world, wouldn’t you want to be able to wear one versatile piece of clothing that will be able to help you cover so many different fashion styles? Just think about it… one piece of clothing that will be able to help you cover multiple dimensions and can cope up with the demands of your every day life? Wouldn’t that be nice, to be able to hit two birds with one stone?

I’ve always loved wearing skirts. I have tried wearing pleated skirts, mini skirts, maxi skirts and even pencil midi skirts — such is the appeal of skirts to me that I even have a whole section on one of my closets filled only with skirts! However, wearing slim fit and skinny legging pants is also one of my biggest obsessions. The ability to mix and match my clothes with my skinny legging pants, without worrying about showing too much skin, is also one thing that I cannot completely abandon. Leggings are quite comfortable to wear and I am really ecstatic whenever I put them on.

How wonderful it would be to be able to wear them both, right? Impossible, you say? Maybe before. But nowadays, with ingenious designs and wonderful sense of style apparent in modern designers, someone has thought of creating a combination of skirts and pants in one apparel. You know, like hitting two birds with one stone? How cool is that?

The Skirt Leggings just might be the answer to my long-time wish to be able to wear skirt and leggings at the same time though! Although you can just wear some black leggings underneath your skit, just like English school girls do, there is something a lot more appealing to the prospect of wearing both skirts and leggings all in on go. The skirt leggings is a lot more fun to wear because there are so many variations on designs that you can play with. Just take this zippered pocket skirt leggings from Lemite as an example. The wrap style of the skirt leggings perfectly suits the tone and material of the pants, which makes the continuation of skirt and legging pants a lot more authentic. Also, the wrapped and flapping front opening of the skirt leggings makes it seem like the skirt is actually an extension of the shirt worn. Simply put, this sense of style and design is what makes these wrap around skirt leggings from Lemite such a wonderful clothing investment.

Blackout Fashion – Why I Love Wearing Black

If there is one color that would stand the test of time as one of the most beloved classics in fashion, I would have to say that it would be black. Easy to wear, easy to complement and very appealing to the eyes, you can combine almost anything with black and it would still look good. Black is the color adopted by one of the most popular fashion cities in the world, New York, and I have reason to believe that it is a good choice. Even with other colors trying to make a statement in bold and vibrant fashion, black is the color that remains constant, classic and consistent. Never swaying to the changes around it, but adapting and evolving as time goes by — just like the city of New York who adopted it as its official color — black will remain perennial ang significant in the world of fashion.

Having said that, there are still reason why I really love to wear black, and that is because black looks good on almost everything. Combine black and gold? You’ll create an elegant mix. Combine black and red? You’ll create a strong and vicious, aggressive style. Combine black and yellow? You’ll get reminded of the racing your way in a motorcycle track with the black and yellow racing flags as inspiration. Whatever you put in along with black, it will almost always result into a hit. But above all this, I can say that combining black on black is one of the most attractive and aggressive yet simple color combinations that you can try.

I believe that black on black is like a storm waiting to erupt. Even though it is not as loud a red or as eye-turning as white, black simply blends into the setting and looks good and elegant. All-black evening gown is such a hit among women, while wearing all-black as a casual wear is also something that works really well. Aside from not having to think too much when you wear black, you also have the advantage of not getting dirtied up so quickly. Although white on white is another classic color combination, the monotone black is still something that I personally prefer because I can wear my clothes without worrying that I will get them dirty.

If you need some inspiration on a “blackout” or all-black outfit, just check out this monotone black outfit from 11am which consists of a black coat, black pleated leather skirt, black leggings and black boots!
